How To Choose Keywords for Search Retargeting

Use keywords to build an audience pool

Search retargeting involves serving ads to people based on their keyword search behavior.

Here's how it works.

  1. A user performs a search using any search engine, such as Google, Yahoo, or Bing.

  2. User is anonymously cookied with their search terms.

  3. User receives display ads as they continue to search and visit websites

In the Agility Platform, you will be able to build audience pools with data collected through search retargeting.

To do this, navigate to the Audiences section of the main campaign.

 

Select Search as your targeting type, name the audience, and click Create Audience.

 

*Note: Those using search retargeting should expect to add at least $1 to their CPM rates because search retargeting utilizes third-party data that may increase the amount required to win bids.

Once you are in the audience, enter the keywords you want to target.

 

You have the option of manually entering your own keywords or uploading a file. Once we get your file, please give us 3 business days to convert those keywords into an audience that we can serve ads to.

 

 

Keywords should be a maximum of three words per search term phrase and separated by a comma.

When coming up with keywords, think about what your target audience will need to search to find your products or services. For instance, a snowboarding apparel company may want to enter the keywords: Mens snowboarding gloves, men snowboarding gear.


*Note: These will be different than keywords used in paid search or SEO optimization, as they will be used to build an audience pool.
